Colts Preseason Game

We were invited to go to the Colts vs Saints preseason game in August. The Flinks were given four amazing tickets on the 50 yard line, and since Andy and Becky couldn't go, they asked us!  We were happy to be their substitute kids!

We had a fun time even though the Colts lost.  Oh well, preseason doesn't really count, right?

Colts Training Camp

Andy, Regan, Joy, and I went to watch the Indianapolis Colts Training Camp in Terre Haute on Wednesday. The weather was perfect for the morning practice. I love the chance to get to see the players up-close.

World Champions

The Colts did it! They won! After all our years of cheering and waiting, they did it! The Indianapolis Colts are World Champions!!! One of the coolest things is that they gave glory to God. We are proud of our team and look forward to see what they do next year. God bless our Colts! Fantasy Football Results

Playing "head-to-head" can lead to funny results. Andy Flink had the best team by far, scoring points almost 15% better than the average team, but still finished in eighth place. Conversely, Mike Flink had the worst point total and finished in fourth place. Zach Wesseling's opponents played their best against him (playing almost 8% better than average), yet he finished first. I don't know if there is any way to influence your opponents team, but Mike Flink's strategy worked; his opponents performed over 7% below average against him.

Andy Flink again had the best team in terms of total points, finishing five points ahead of me, but ending up in 7th place. Joy did well, having as many wins as me, but she didn't have the luck in the playoffs. Her opponents did 8% better than average against her. (I guess she didn't psych anyone out.) I had LT, and he really came alive in the second half of the season.

Frustrating Colts!

Maybe Peyton was making this face thinking about his defense. Probably not, though. I took this picture in training camp. I think the vicious glare is either from squinting into the sun or directed at the obnoxious autograph seekers yelling that they need an autograph for their dying grandma. (This is the face I have been making when I think about the Colts defense during the last three division games.)

ESPN Fantasy Football

Now is the time of year to get ready for the NFL season. If you enjoy NFL at all, you should play some simple fantasy games. ESPN has several free games that are a lot of fun. You do need an ESPN account, but that is free. Gridiron Challenge is a salary cap type game where players have certain values and you have limited money to spend on your team. Pigskin Pick'em is a game where you pick weekly winners. Eliminator is a fun game where you just have to pick one winner each week, and you are "eliminated" when you pick a loser. The catch is that you can only pick a given team only once. Once you sign up for a game, click "create or join a league" and join the BRCC league. (search for BRCC) No password this year. And don't pass on playing because "I don't know much about the NFL", usually there is not much difference between hard core fans and novices.

Andy Flink and I went to watch the Colts practice in Terre Haute. The weather was much better than earlier in the week. It is a lot of fun to see the players up close. There was a good crowd today, especially for being a week day.

Monday Night Football

There was a Colts pep rally downtown on Monday for the Monday Night Football game. Joy got to see John Madden and Al Michaels, plus get some free Colts stuff. The Colts proceded to stomp the Rams.
