Hiking in Algonquin
After the boys got back from kayaking on Monday morning, we headed to Algonquin Provincial Park for a day of hiking. We hiked three trails: Spruce Bog Boardwalk, Beaver Pond, and Big Pines. We even made some time for shopping at the store by Lake Opeongo. It was a beautiful day, and even though we didn't see any moose or bears, we saw lots of birds and pineys (red squirrels). Two of the highlights of the day were spotting a black backed woodpecker and a red fox!

Ben and I are showing how wide this White Pine is on the Big Pines trail. Our hands were still about two feet apart on the other side.
There were approximately 75 giant White Pines on the trail (according to the trail map). Rich counted to make sure, and we told him if he didn't find them all, he'd have to go back and try again.
This pic is a little blurry, but still super cute.
Laney had a good time hiking too.
