Spiranthes lacera

I found this orchid blooming in Noble County, OH. The green lip points to S. lacera. It also has a single, strong spiral, a glabrous spike, and absent leaves at flowering. (Vocab word - fugacious - meaning to fall away early) Quite a pretty flower, especially for an old field habitat.

Good year for orchids, that's for sure. Jim McCormac just posted about the same species... http://jimmccormac.blogspot.com/2009/08/ladys-tresses.html.

I like your macro and non-macro combination flower shots. Way to include the fungus and frog.
