Northern Zigzag Salamander

I was so excited to find some salamanders after a long winter while we were at Spring Mill. This lungless salamander (Plethodon dorsalis) had a very pretty pattern.

Wow! I have not seen a Zigzag Salamander. Extremely cool. I love the beautiful pattern.

Made my day. What a beauty. I grew up in the east, but I've never heard of this one--where are you?

Janet - The pattern was gorgeous! The salamander's surface kept reflecting the sky, so the color is a little muted in the pictures.

Murr - Spring Mill State Park is in Mitchell, Indiana, which is south of Indianapolis and Bloomington.
