Searching for otters at Muscatatuck

We took a trip down to Muscatatuck NWR near Seymour, IN to see the otters again, if we could. The trick is finding where they are. It is fun to see them out playing on the ice.

View of the wetland where the otters were playing this year.

We spotted an otter further out on the ice, when up popped this showoff otter, maybe only 50' away. He came up out on the ice several times.

He (she?) was quite a large otter and seemed to be doing fine as far as eating was concerned.

Long, flat otter

We saw 6 to 8 otters (depending on how fast two otters can travel). More pictures will follow.
