Local Great Horned Owls

I love owls. To me they represent mystery, wildness, resilience of nature, beauty, and strength. It is also interesting to try to keep track of their movements. Tonight I saw a Great Horned Owl along Mt. Comfort. I have seen this owl in the area several times. I decided to try to map places that I have seen/heard Great Horned Owls in recent years in my neighborhood. I have also heard/seen Great Horned Owls further south along Buck Creek, from US52 to Southeastway Park. I would think this would be a different pair. I need to try to find out how large of a home range a pair of Great Horns keep. It seems like they do get around. I posted the picture, not because it shows great detail, but more because I liked the color and form.

I saw two owls yesterday in the square of woods wsw of our house. I couldn't see any identifying marks in the waning light, but by the shape of the head I could tell they were owls.
