Painted Lady
Painted Lady, Vanessa cardui, Will County, Illinois. When I saw this guy fly by, it was a "drop what I was doing" and go follow the butterfly moment. The Painted Lady sure was strking.

Nice Painted Lady. I love the subtle beauty in the underwing patterning. I just checked out your bigby list for the first time in a while. Nice recent birds.
