Kingfishers

Joy and I are back in the states after great two week vacation in the Philippines. The emphasis was on spending time with family, but I did manage to do some birding. The White-collared Kingfisher was the most common Kingfisher I saw. Depending on the lighting, he could either look brilliant green or blue. I also got to see several White-throated Kingfishers, which is a very dull name for a red Kingfisher with bright blue wings. I took this picture from Fort Santiago in the heart of old Manila.
