Poison Sumac

One shrub I keep an eye on when I am at Cabin Creek Bog is Poison Sumac. There is one Poison Sumac tree and multiple shrub-sized individuals. Poison Sumac is fairly rare and an indicator of a good habitat. It grows mainly in bogs, fens, and lake edges. In Indiana, it is almost always found in the northern third of the state. It has the same irritant as poison ivy, but with a stronger concentration.
