Gone With The Wind (Part I)

I just finished Gone With The Wind (Part I). Calling it Part I makes it seem like it was a trifling affair, but Part I is a long novel. Now I need to find the next parts. The first part was 26 hours long. I got the book through interlibrary loan, and they only sent Part 1. I have no idea why. If anyone is familiar with the book, please comment on this post. I assume the story goes on further, because there was absolutely no conclusion at the end of Part 1. Part 1 ends with Scarlett at Tara in the Reconstruction years. I despise Scarlett, but I want to finish the book. The history, the story, and the other characters make it worthwhile.

I am very confused about your "part 1" and "part 2". Are you talking about a book on tape?

I do have the book, and it is very, very, very long. You're right... I despise Scarlett as well. My mom once said to me, "I don't know what a non-Christian lives for. How do they live without God? What drives them?" And one of my first thoughts was of Scarlett. This story is about the futility of living for any other cause than Christ.

The book disappointed me in the end, but I think it was ended well. I just felt that so much was left hanging -- but that's really how life is. There is a sequel, written by another author, called "Scarlett". It's an okay book -- not on the same level as "Gone with the Wind" but a good idea of what may have happened to Scarlett.

I was thinking about that part while I was gardening the other day. My mom is Irish, and her dad named her after the red earth of Tara. Whenever I garden, I think of my mom or this book. This part really breaks my heart. If she had wanted the money, surely Frank would have leant his sister-in-law the money!! But it didn't occur to her. She felt that he would only give her the money if she were deceitful...

What a sad way to live your life.
