Great Basin Flowers part 7
This Calochortus was the only Mariposa lily we saw blooming in the valley.
Several plants seemed to have the strategy of having ground-hugging leaves that were very curly-edged. This is Glyptopleura marginata.
Probably the showiest flower in the foothills of the Schell Creek range was this showy Penstemon. The flower stalks were up to 2 feet tall, with a large incredible blue flower.
We saw several species of this Jewelflower or Streptanthus. What an interesting mustard. There was one that grew in the valley and a different one in the hills.
