Sage Sparrow

The Sage Sparrow, so far, is the most common sparrow in the valley. They are outnumbered, by far, by the Horned Larks. They are starting to setup territories in the sagebrush communities. The valley is far from just a sagebrush dominated community. There are large stretches without any sage, and instead have winterfat, rabbitbrush, or shad scale.

These guys will sing from an exposed sagebrush perch, but they'll also skulk along the ground and run out of sight. Very similar to how the Sage Thrashers behave.

View of the sagebrush, and the snow, looking out across the valley. The snow melted by afternoon.
