Alligator mississippiensis

For all the talk about alligators, I really haven't seen too many while working. This little guys hangs out by the observation pier on Lake Okeechobee. I saw him last night and again this afternoon. He is about 3 feet long counting the tail. Last night he was watching the fishermen on the pier and would try to get the fish as they were reeled in.

Today he was going for some Moorhen chicks, and one of the parents was severely scolding, distracting, or announcing him. The noise must have gotten through, because he hissed at the Moorhen and eyed him for a good while.
