Pigmy Rattler!

Kelly found a Dusky Pigmy Rattler (Sistrurus miliarius barouri) today while we were walking through a pine woods. He saw the tracks crossing the dirt road, and we followed them up into the brush. Kelly found him under a Yaupon (Ilex vomitoria). What a beautiful snake! He struck out at us a couple times, but we kept enough distance. Two rattlesnake species in one week is pretty good.
