Juvenile Turkey Vulture
I have always admired a vultures flight skills. This young Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura) seems to be practicing his stereotypical vulture pose. The dark head confused me at first, but I am fairly confident it is not a Black Vulture.
He was perched on a cool old barn in Eastern Ohio. He didn't fly off until I left, so he wasn't too concerned by me. It was over 90 degrees, so maybe he thought he had a chance.
