Short-eared Owls at Mt. Comfort

Short-eared Owls are winter grassland birds that frequently are active during the late afternoon. Up to five birds have been seen at the airport this winter. If you stop by after three in the afternoon, you have a good chance of seeing one. They roost in the grass during the day. I only got a couple pictures, because my fingers were very cold. I got to add this bird to my Bigby list, because I rode my bike to see them. It is nice to see Hancock County with some biodiversity.
