Blazing Star at Jasper-Pulaski

Saturday, I went on the INPAWS field trip to Jasper-Pulaski. It was great weather and a great chance to learn a lot more botany. Maybe one of the showiest flowers blooming in the savanna ecosystem was the blazing star, Liatris spicata.

Hey Ben. I've been trying to learn the flowers and butterflies down here, and the two come together often when the flower is a species of Liatris. We have a few species, and they're really starting to bloom around this time of year.
