Orobanche uniflora

The USDA Plants database calls this pretty flower the Oneflowered Broomrape, or because it has no apparent leaves, the Naked Broomrape. I hadn't seen this flower before. Apparently, its stem and reduced leaves are underground and only the pedicel and flower are above. The plant is parasitic. I found this along a walking path in Gahanna, OH. I thought it was pretty cool that it looked white until I got very close.
