Red River Gorge, Fall '06

A view of Chimney Rock from Lookout Rock (Lunch Rock). Only the oaks and evergreens had their leaves, for the most part.
Suzie, Sam, Erin, and Rachel eating lunch.
Erin's first view of Pinch'em Tight Gap before preparing to descend.
Andrew getting squeezed between the rocks.
The closest thing to a group shot that we got.

Last weekend was the annual fall hike at the Red River Gorge. Turn out was great; we could have even used more chaperones to keep track of all the kids. Weather was perfect, dry and cool during the day Saturday and nice at night. It was a lot of fun getting to know and watching the first time kids. Andrew and Rich both got to go on the fall hike for the first time. We got going pretty early on Saturday, but still didn't have enough time to make it to Gray's Arch. Maybe next time.

It looks like a great time. By Rachel's and Carl's accounts it was enjoyed by the kids. The trees were looking pretty bare. I'm looking out now and i see some yellow and red leaves on the trees across the street. Here, leaves fall off and grow back - but more fall off in the "fall months" than in the spring and summer.
