The River of Doubt : Theodore Roosevelt's Darkest Journey

I just finished an abridged version of Candice Millard's non-fictional account of Roosevelt's journey down an unexplored Amazon tributary. I had even never heard of the 1914 expedition before. This was a very good story. Roosevelt certainly seems like the most adventurous president. I guess this was back before the days when Secret Service agents follow presidents around everywhere. Three people died on the trip, and Roosevelt came very close to not making it. I wish the book was not abridged, but what can you do? Audio books leave you little choice. I borrowed the book from Sabrina Hunter. Here is a good site about TR.
