Turkey Run State Park

Last weekend we visited Turkey Run and Pine Hills Nature Preserve with Paul and Megan. It was a perfect weekend to spend outside hiking. (Unfortunately, many other people decided the same thing.) It would have been better to just hike around Shades, but I wanted Megan to get to see Turkey Run.
Even Pine Hills Nature Preserve was pretty busy. Usually, there is no one else there. Devil's Backbone was it's usual impressive self, with a decent vertical drop on both sides of the trail.

Joy and Megan walk on trail 3, heading up Bear Hollow. We had to snap the picture quickly, taking advantage of a moment when other people were not in the photograph.

Another one of my favorite places at Turkey Run is trail 6 and Turkey Run Hollow, which opens out on the Sugar Creek at Sunset Point. The creek is usually much higher. The trees hanging over the river were colorful. The brightness of the right side of the picture made it hard to see the sandstone formations on the left.

The view from the covered bridge over the Narrows.
