Two Nevada Scrophs
These two members of the Scrophulariaceae family were blooming today. I am looking forward to more flowers popping up! The first (I believe) is Desert Paintbrush, Castilleja chromosa. It fits the blooming dates and leaf description. It is not red like most of this species, but that is not uncommon. It was blooming in the valley.
The second I believe to be Dwarf Lousewort, Pedicularis centranthera. It was blooming on the hillside at Cave Lake State Park.
