Brewer's Sparrow

Our Easter Egg hunt in the valley continues. It is quite a challenge to actually find an active nest in the scrub.

Brewer's Sparrows have moved in and are very common now. These little brown birds are closely related to our Chipping Sparrows. They are almost distinctive in their small, drabness.

For being relatively nondescript after hatching, they sure sport some stylish colors on their egg. The low greasewood shrub has been parted; it would be almost impossible to see the nest otherwise.
