Spiranthes magnicamporum

The grand Chinkapin overlooking the glades

Saturday was the INPAWS field trip to Charlestown State Park. The highlight was getting to visit the glades and see the the late blooming Spiranthes magnicamporum, the Great Plain's Ladies Tresses. This orchid lives in very dry and sunny habitats and has only been found in two counties in Indiana.
