Smith's Longspurs

I was in the Crawfordsville area today, so I thought I would check out the Burn, a restored wetland that has been a great place to see Smith's Longspurs.

We ran in to Clint Murray, who very graciously offered to take us to see some longspurs. This was the first one we saw, and our best looks by far.

Here is an overview of the field with the longspurs. There were over a hundred present, disappearing into the stubble, and flying here and there making their flight call. It was a cool experience.
