Scenes from the first day of the ice storm. There has been a bit of freezing rain, but even more sleet. It was just sleeting this afternoon when I took a walk around the fields. While ice can complicate some modes of transportation, it certainly makes strolling across a plowed field easier. And if your back is to the blowing sleet, it is very pleasant. I walked to the northeast woodlot to check on the resident Great Horned Owl and Coyote. Both were there, and both seemed a little put out to have to go somewhere else until I passed by.

How are these cocklebur fruits supposed to stick?

Pretty neat look. It's nice to see some of the beauty of an event that is usually viewed only as a negative. Thanks.
